The Roots Project aims to dig down to the soul of a garden. What is that extra dash of spirit that really makes a garden quite a compelling experience? I believe the answer lies bundled up at the root of a garden, the stories contained within the hearts and hands of those who create gardens: the designers, the owners, and the gardeners. Truly great gardens are works of art that hold memories of the past and a vision for the future, which is consistently maintained by the human touch. They are artifacts of the beautiful and backbreaking relationship between people and places. The goal of The Roots Project is to expose the deeply human side of garden making and bring you along for the journey.
The stories I will be posting here are a continuation of my graduate research. Check out part 1 of The Garden Project here.
